Libsyn pricing runs from $8 to $150 a month for podcast hosting. Basic costs $12 a month for 3 hours of new audio, Advanced costs $25 for 10 hours, Max costs $150 for 55 hours, and an $8 plan covers the bare essentials. Professional and Enterprise plans are priced by quote. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial and is billed monthly after it. Libsyn charges for how much audio you upload each month, not for how many downloads you get, so a growing audience never raises the bill.
The figures above come from Libsyn's own plans and pricing page. Several software directories still quote older Libsyn tiers at $5, $15, $20 and $40, which no longer exist, so check which version you are reading before you budget. This guide covers what each plan costs, which one a weekly show actually needs, how it compares with Buzzsprout, and how much of the bill your show can earn back. If you already know your hosting and want to sell reads, our podcast sponsorship marketplace is where brands find shows by audience and price.
How much does Libsyn cost?
Libsyn costs $12 a month on Basic, $25 on Advanced and $150 on Max, with an $8 entry plan below them and quote-only plans above. The table is built from Libsyn's plans and pricing page.
| Plan | Price | New audio per month | What it adds | Cost a year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $8 plan | $8 a month | Bare essentials | Hosting and distribution at the lowest price | $96 |
| Basic | $12 a month | 3 hours | Basic IAB verified stats, YouTube video distribution | $144 |
| Advanced | $25 a month | 10 hours | Advanced IAB stats, YouTube and Spotify video distribution, social calendar | $300 |
| Max | $150 a month | 55 hours | Built for high-volume publishing, Advanced stats | $1,800 |
| Professional and Enterprise | By quote | Unlimited storage | Dynamic ad insertion, API access, network RSS feed, dedicated account manager | By quote |
All plans include audio and video hosting, multi-user access for up to five people per podcast, a podcast website and the monetization tools. Video uploads are included on top of the audio allowance, up to 100GB a month, which Libsyn puts at about 50 hours.
Why do review sites show different Libsyn prices?
Because many of them still list Libsyn's retired Classic tiers. Capterra, for example, shows Classic 50 at $5 a month, Classic 250 at $15, Advanced 400 at $20 and Advanced 800 at $40. Those plans were sized by megabytes of storage. The current plans are sized by hours of audio and start at $8 and $12, so a guide quoting a $5 Libsyn plan is describing a product you can no longer buy.
New shows sign up on the current hour-based plans. If you are switching from another host, price the current plan, not the one an old roundup recommends.
Which Libsyn plan do you need?
Work it out from your publishing schedule, because the allowance is new audio per month. A weekly show runs four or five episodes a month, so multiply episode length by five to be safe.
| Show schedule | New audio a month | Plan that fits | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly, 30 minutes | About 2.5 hours | Basic | $12 |
| Weekly, 60 minutes | About 5 hours | Advanced | $25 |
| Twice weekly, 60 minutes | About 9 hours | Advanced | $25 |
| Daily, 45 minutes | About 23 hours | Max | $150 |
| A network of several shows | Varies | Professional or Enterprise | By quote |
The jump that catches people is the hour-long weekly show. It does not fit in Basic's 3 hours, so it lands on Advanced at $25. That plan is also the first one with advanced stats and stats exports, and sponsors ask for those numbers before they book a read, so most shows that plan to sell sponsorships end up on Advanced anyway.
Does Libsyn charge more when your downloads grow?
No. Libsyn says its plans depend on how much new content you upload, not on monthly downloads, and it calls this an unlimited audience. A show that goes from 1,000 to 50,000 downloads an episode pays the same $25 on Advanced. That is the main reason established shows stay on Libsyn: the bill is predictable while the audience, and the sponsorship rates it supports, grow.
Libsyn vs Buzzsprout pricing
Libsyn is cheaper at the entry level and Buzzsprout is simpler to start for free. Buzzsprout's pricing page lists Audio at $15 a month and Audio plus Video at $25, both billed annually with 72 hours of uploads a year, and Multi-Podcast at $30 with 180 hours a year. Its free plan keeps episodes for only 90 days, so it is a trial rather than a home for a show.
| Libsyn | Buzzsprout | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry paid plan | $8 or $12 a month | $15 a month billed annually |
| Video podcast plan | Included on every plan | $25 a month billed annually |
| Upload allowance | 3, 10 or 55 hours a month | 72 or 180 hours a year |
| Free option | 30-day trial, card required | Free plan, episodes kept 90 days |
| Ad revenue share for podcasters | 50% to 70% via Libsyn Ads | 0.7 to 1.4 cents a download, see Buzzsprout pricing and ad payouts |
For a weekly hour-long show, the two land at the same $25 a month. The deciding factor is usually monetization and stats, not the hosting fee.
Can you make money from a podcast on Libsyn?
Yes. Every Libsyn plan includes automatic podcast ads, PodRoll promotions and Apple Podcasts Subscriptions. Libsyn's monetization page says automatic ads pay podcasters a 60% revenue share in months with 50,000 or more downloads and 50% below that, with no download minimum to join. Host-read campaigns sold through Libsyn Ads pay 60%, or 70% with exclusive representation. Payouts have a $20 threshold, and with earnings reported 30 days after month end and paid within about 60 days of that, money can take up to three months to arrive.
The network share is a fraction of what the same read is worth sold directly. Libsyn Ads' own rate card prices a 60-second host read at $24 to $26 CPM. On a show with 5,000 downloads an episode, one direct read at $25 CPM is $125, enough to pay for five months of Advanced. Through the network you would keep $75 of that, and only if an advertiser picks your show. Our breakdown of Libsyn Ads cost and podcaster payouts has the full rate card.
Brands booking direct want two things before they pay: verified download numbers and a clear picture of who is listening. The first comes from the advanced stats on your hosting plan. For the second, a short listener survey with voice and video answers gives you age, job and buying intent in your audience's own words, which is what a sponsor's media buyer forwards to their boss.
Does Libsyn have a free plan?
No. Libsyn has no permanent free plan, but every paid plan starts with 30 days of free access. You need a credit card to start the trial, and you are not charged until it ends. After that the plan bills monthly, and you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time from your account settings. Libsyn also states that you keep ownership of your show and content, and that it never adds ads to your episodes without your permission.
Is Libsyn worth the price?
Libsyn is worth it for a show that publishes on a schedule and plans to grow, because the price is tied to uploads and never rises with downloads. It is less of a bargain for a daily show, where Max at $150 a month costs six times Advanced, or for a hobby show that publishes rarely and could live on a cheaper plan. Whatever host you pick, the hosting bill is the small number. The larger one is how much each episode earns.
Where to start
Pick the plan from your schedule: Basic for a half-hour weekly show, Advanced for anything an hour long or if you plan to sell reads, Max only if you publish daily. Then put the show where sponsors shop. On Sponsorships you publish your downloads, audience and a price per read, brands contact you directly, and you keep 100% of every deal. The Creator plan is $19.50 a month billed yearly, less than your Advanced hosting, and our sponsorship rate card builder turns your download numbers into prices you can publish today.
